With over 1 billion downloads, the mobile game publisher is making its biggest leap yet by baking blockchain directly into top titles Mobile gaming just got a major upgrade. TapNation, the French publisher behind over one billion mobile game downloads, is stepping into the future with a new collaboration alongside Sequence, the all-in-one web3 development platform, and The Arbitrum Foundation, the team behind one of the fastest Layer 2 blockchains in the Ethereum ecosystem. Together, they’re rolling out seamless blockchain features in two of TapNation’s top-performing games, Monster Squad Rush and Cornhole League, combining casual gameplay with player-owned assets, NFT rewards, and decentralized economies. For the mobile gaming industry, often criticized for its extractive monetization models, this represents a pivot toward giving players more control and ownership—without compromising usability. No Wallet? No Problem. TapNation is not targeting crypto-native users. It’s targeting everyone. Through Sequence’s platform, players can access web3 features such as digital rewards and asset ownership using social login options like Gmail, Apple, or Facebook. There is no need for browser extensions or seed phrases. In Monster Squad Rush, blockchain rewards unlock at Level 5, seamlessly blending into the gameplay rather than appearing as a clunky add-on. With backend infrastructure powered by Arbitrum, the experience is fast, cheap, and scalable. Players can mint, trade, and govern digital assets all within a frictionless mobile environment that still feels like a traditional game. “This collaboration shows how powerful light-touch web3 integrations in existing games can be,” said Sam Barberie, Head of Strategy and Partnerships at Sequence. “TapNation’s massive reach, combined with Arbitrum’s performance and our toolset, provides a clear blueprint for mainstream web3 gaming.” Scaling With Google Cloud Both TapNation and Sequence are Google Cloud partners, ensuring their blockchain features are built on enterprise-grade infrastructure. This removes a common barrier to scale in web3 development, offering confidence to studios concerned about security and global performance. “Collaborating with Sequence and The Arbitrum Foundation enables us to introduce innovative features without compromising what makes our games fun and accessible,” said Philippe Lenormand, Head of Web3 at TapNation. “These launches are just the beginning.” Beyond Gimmicks: Real Utility in Mobile Games While many web3 gaming experiments have struggled to find traction, TapNation is approaching it from a user-first perspective. Instead of forcing blockchain where it doesn’t belong, the company is adding value-enhancing layers to games that are already performing well in global markets. Cornhole League, another title getting the upgrade, now features interoperable rewards and digital asset ownership that deepen the core gameplay loop rather than distracting from it. “Gaming is one of the most dynamic and promising frontiers for blockchain use cases,” said Andrew Charalambous of The Arbitrum Foundation. “By combining Arbitrum’s infrastructure with Sequence’s tools and TapNation’s reach, we’re building a new standard for what web3 games can be.” What Comes Next With more titles in the pipeline, the partnership is a long-term bet on blockchain’s role in mobile entertainment. As studios seek new ways to boost acquisition, retention, and monetization, web3 features like true digital ownership and player governance could become critical tools. For now, TapNation is proving that blockchain in mobile doesn’t have to feel like a science project. It can feel like a game.
